Escrowing money each month to pay your tases at the end ot the year

Perhaps you have been paying on a mortgage your entire life or have just moved into your parents home after they passed on and are not paying for a mortgage now.  Everyone has to pay County taxes on land they own unless they are over sixty five years old.  The problem is, the bill comes in October for the entire amount and you have to pay it by the end of the year or shortly thereafter.

When you pay monthly mortgage payments, normally a portion of that payment goes into an account at the mortgage company to pay taxes at the end of the year.  That way, you pay smaller amounts year round and your taxes get paid in a lump sum at the end of the year.  In short, you don’t feel the financial hit when your taxes are due and you don’t have to worry about being late on payment.

At Mi Casa, we can set up the same thing.  You pay us small, monthly amounts equal to 1/12 of your estimated taxes during the year, and we pay your taxes at the end of the year by automatic deductions from your checking account.  This can go on for as long as you own the property.  Call us at (888) 642-2726, (210) 430-5200 if you are interested in this service.

Recovery of money for properties sold at auction

All property at these sales are auctioned to the highest bidder at tax sales and the bidding starts at the amount you owe. So, if your property was bid up beyond what you owe, you can apply for to recover any money over the amount you actually owed at the time of the sale. Unfortunately you are required to file legal documents to do so. Many times properties sell for 1/2 of appraised value, so very often there is money to be recovered by the former owner.

The  Texas legislature put a 25% of overage up to $1,000 limit on the legal fees that can be charged for filing and recovering these overage fees for you.  That means the most you have to pay for legal fees is $1,000 to recover your money.   Call us at (888) 642-2726, (210) 430-5200 if your property was sold at a County Tax auction to see if you qualify.
